Silent Santa is a charitable organization made up of volunteers primarily from Emergency Service Departments and Law Enforcement in Gonzales County. Our mission is to provide some Christmas Assistance to the least fortunate children in our area, insuring that they have a joyous Christmas.
We wish to target the children and families who may be overlooked by other assistance programs, or who are too proud to ask for help. Most of these children are in need of the very basics of day to day life. They need clothes, shoes, coats and other necessities. In order to provide the best service to these children, we use your donations to buy these gifts for each specific child. We also believe that every child should receive a toy or two at Christmas, so if you feel more comfortable dropping off a new unwrapped toy, feel free to do so at any of the three Gonzales County EMS / Rescue Stations.
Our volunteers are very dedicated to making sure each child receives exactly what he or she needs, so they spend a lot of time researching each child. The child's parents will also be contacted when possible to notify them of their child's selection, and to gather more personal information about the child to be used when selecting the gifts.
It is the wish of participating agencies to operate as discreetly as possible, hence the "Silent" in the name. We wish to protect the privacy and dignity of the receiving families, as well as insure a surprise for the children.
This is our second year of operation. Last year, we were able to assist 8 families for a total of 26 children. in Gonzales County. With your generosity, we hope to provide much needed clothing, shoes, coats and even a few toys for even more of our county's neediest children.
